If anybody is looking to teach their young kids to fish but don't want to take them to the lake where fishing sometimes can be slow, those that are close enough to it should think about the creek in Ellis kansas, it is a nice place to fish and i believe that KDWP stocked maybe some crappie and also channel cat. I have done this for years when i was teaching my daughter to fish and she loved catching channel cat and also bluegill. and even if you are not in this area you might think about it in your area, this area also has a campground, bathrooms, and a playground in case the kids do get bored. i also made sure to bring drinks and snacks for them so that they enjoy their fishing trip with you. there is no better feeling for any parent then to take the time to spend with their child and fishing is a great way to do this.
